    The Digital Content Specialist is an integral part of the Student Affairs Team and is responsible for creating, editing, updating, improving and maintaining high-quality content that can be placed across different web and other digital communication properties.

    This includes working with Digital Marketing in-house digital content strategist, writers, designers and web staff to produce visually striking and user-friendly digital content in a content management system(s); tracking and implementing Student Affairs communications; and collaborating with Faculties, Marketing & Communications and other internal Sheridan stakeholders to execute multi-channel digital campaigns to our current students. This position reports directly to the office of the Dean of Students and will represent Student Affairs interests within Digital Content Specialist Network.  The Digital Content Specialist will be the Student Affairs strategic and editorial prime in relation to our digital content and campaigns. This individual will work closely with internal teams to audit, organize, write, edit and manage content for the Student Affairs. The Digital Content Specialist also will consistently gather and monitor metrics to identify content quality, performance and accessibility compliance, make recommendations, and devise digital content enhancement strategies.

     

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

     

    Serve as an internal client contact for content editing and web editing support including:

     

    • Works as an integral member of the Student Affairs team by creating and/or acquiring content to be distributed via various digital channels and online communications media.
    • Produces and/or coordinates the design and production of digital assets - including web copy, graphics, video and photographic assets - for strategic use in digital communication channels.
    • Develops and enforces content creation, maintenance and archiving policies including adherence to Sheridan’s web standards.
    • Works with Digital Strategy Team to analyze site usage statistics and content quality to maximize information delivery, enhance usability & accuracy of content, comply with required accessibility standards and increase audience engagement.
    • Coordinates and maintains a master web content calendar for key digital properties in terms of updating, maintaining and refreshing content.
    • Plans, researches, writes, edits and proofreads web content by consistently reviewing content, identifying sections that need a greater depth of material and removing outdated material.
    • Seeks out potential story/photo/video opportunities that would bring student supports, experiences and successes to life.
    • Works as an integral member of the Marketing & Communication and Digital Content Specialist teams by creating and/or acquiring current student relevant content for the Sheridan’s digital properties and other online communications media.
    • Produces and/or coordinates the design and production of digital assets - including web copy, graphics, video and photographic assets - for strategic use in Student Affairs digital communication channels.
    • Explores innovative digital storytelling techniques that meet Sheridan’s marketing and communication goals.
    • Develops and enforces content creation, maintenance and archiving policies including adherence to the Sheridan’s web standards.
    • Works with Digital Marketing team to analyze SEO and site usage statistics to maximize information delivery, enhance usability of content and increase audience engagement for our Student Affairs.
    • Writes and produces multimedia features and articles that support Faculty’s engagement and recruitment efforts in collaboration with members of the Marketing team, OTR and other institutional partners.
    • Recommends opportunities for improving user experience, usability and audience conversions. Writing new material and identifying ways to repurpose existing material;
    • Using the content management system to add/update information and
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    The ideal candidate will possess a 3 year diploma/degree in communications, marketing, journalism or interac tive multimedia and have experience in the following areas:

    • 1-2+ years of experience working in content production environment;
    • 1-2+ year of experience in web development or information architecture;
    • Proven ability to deliver content tactics that drive business results;
    • Proficient writing, grammar and spelling abilities;
    • Outstanding Communication skills;
    • Knowledge of style guides and writing for higher education, for millennial or student audiences;
    • Knowledge of Content Marketing and writing for web;
    • Experience using Google Analytics or other web analytics software would be an asset;
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel;
    • Web design and development experienc Web design and development experience;
    • Demonstrated written, oral and presentation skills are

     

    The incumbent must demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment, the ability to problem solve, organize and prioritize duties, make decisions, work independently and deal with conflicting deadlines . A strong ability to research, troubleshoot and analyze written content as it pertains to marketing collateral is also required.
