    Reporting to the Manager, Digital and Social Marketing, the incumbent establishes, implements and maintains digital content strategies to enhance website usability and accessibility; increase audience attraction and visitor engagement; and improve the user experience of sheridancollege.ca and supporting web properties, focusing on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance. The incumbent provides web content management expertise, content strategy leadership, content marketing consultation and copywriting and editorial guidance to a broad range of internal departments and ensures that sheridancollege.ca and other public-facing web content accurately reflect Sheridan’s priorities, brand and recruitment objectives. The incumbent leads digital content project collaborations with internal team members and partners, including; identifying digital content strategy project goals and communicating on deliverables and deadlines. The incumbent provides ongoing training, mentoring and support on content marketing strategies and content management to internal groups that edit and maintain web content.

     

     

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

     

    • In consultation with Manager, Digital and Social Marketing, develops and recommends digital content strategies and project plans to faculties or other internal departments that align departmental, marketing, communications and digital strategies for optimum user experience and engagement;
    • Oversees digital content requirements, and; defines and creates content strategy deliverables (e.g. content audits, gap analysis, competitive benchmarking, taxonomy, content style guides, and content migration);
    • Develops and manages an editorial calendar for sheridancollege.ca home page and other strategic landing pages, contributing to and overseeing content development and dissemination on sheridancollege.ca primary and other supported web properties to ensure content is relevant and current;
    • Plans, briefs and oversees projects with internal service providers and/or third party vendors for editorial, website development and digital campaigns;
    • Interviews, consults and coordinates with colleagues across Sheridan to inform digital content development and content marketing best practices;
    • Identifies training opportunities and develops and delivers necessary training on various aspects of web content management and web content writing;
    • Identifies opportunities and participates in ongoing website usability studies and tests (e.g. focus groups, online user tests, organized usability testing) to gauge content effectiveness, ensuring that content is relevant and useful to users; makes recommendations and implements changes based on results;
    • Creatively looks for opportunities to improve content and user experience;
    • Works with Manager, Digital and Social Marketing and the UX and design team to conduct competitive audits;
    • Researches latest industry trends and informs colleagues and internal clients within Sheridan on best practices and guidelines pertaining to content strategy and content marketing;
    • Reviews site on a regular basis to identify content issues related to quality assurance, accessibility and SEO.
    • On behalf of digital and social marketing team, acts as a content strategy liaison for all centralized web content streams (e.g. home page, academic and program pages);
    • Updates sheridancollege.ca website and other related web properties;
    • Provides recommendations for process improvements to ensure Sheridan’s web support needs are being met effectively and efficiently;
    • Communicates project requirements and provides guidance to junior and part-time staff members to ensure projects are being addressed and assists with troubleshooting efforts;
    • Recommends web features and enhancements to meet identified conversion and content strategy goals;
    • Maintains knowledge of current practices using available external sources, like subscription magazines, e-newsletters, industry memberships and by attending/participating in relevant industry forums and events.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

     

     

    Qualifications:

     

    The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent in Communication, English (with emphasis on Writing), Journalism, Marketing Management or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of proven digital content strategy, content marketing and editing experience, including writing for the web, web editing, SEO and web content strategy development using a Content Management Systems (CMS). The incumbent should have a high degree of technical competency and proficiency using word processing programs (Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), presentation software (PowerPoint), email, databases, related editing software and software for websites and blogs; experience researching and analyzing complex information, fact checking and interviewing, and strong oral communication skills; and experience managing multi-dimensional projects. The incumbent should have experience using content management systems such as Sitecore CMS (preferred), quality assurance software (such as Siteimprove) and analytics platforms to continually improve website content quality, currency, usability and customer experience. Experience with Accessibility Testing, User Testing, Search Engine Optimization, Google Analytics and Google Adwords will be considered an asset.
