    Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST), the Manager, Planning & Projects, is responsible for leadership and management of a variety of complex and confidential functions including: physical resource planning and coordination, enrolment planning, curriculum management process, data and materials management within the Faculty. The Manager, Planning and Projects, in collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders, researches and develops systems and procedures that are institutionally aligned with the College. He/she provides planning and project management leadership for functions across schools in FAST and provides research and project management expertise to various Faculty initiatives involving complex work processes and activities.


    Specific Responsibilities:


    • Provides leadership and oversight for the Faculty curriculum management process, including: project management, quality assurance, submission for internal approval (Local Academic Council (LAC) and Academic Resource Committee (ARC)), and implementation;
    • Provides guidance and support to Program Coordinators, Program Support Staff, Academic Portfolio Administrators (APAs), and Associate Deans related to curriculum change, new program development, and program review;
    • Works closely with Coordinators, APAs, Program Support Staff and Associate Deans to coordinate and organize data systems to support FAST requirements for institutional and professional program accreditation and provincial quality assurance reviews (e.g. Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) Program Quality Assurance Process Audit (PQAPA);
    • Responsible for coordinating the Faculty’s facilities (including labs & equipment) across all campuses in collaboration with the Dean, Facilities Management and AVP Corporate Planning;
    • Provides project management support to Associate Deans related to external accreditation initiatives (e.g. Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB);
    • Develops and maintains information management systems for accreditation and program reviews;
    • Provides leadership to team; Maintains a high level of team performance through effective recruitment, training, workflow/project planning, employee development and performance management; Provides guidance and coaching to optimize staff performance and service to clients;
    • Provides administrative support to the Dean for special projects such as Faculty Awards and information requests such as appeals;
    • Performing other duties as assigned;




    The successful candidate must possess a 4 Year Bachelor’s degree in IT Systems Knowledge, Business, or a related field along with 5 years of project management experience, preferably in a post-secondary institution (or a relevant combination of education and related work experience); experience planning and leading projects and developing systems is required as well as the ability to translate business requirements into procedures and systems; strong negotiation, presentation, and report writing skills are required; knowledge of IT systems and PMP designations are considered as asset; excellent leadership, relationship-building, communication and interpersonal skills are an asset.
