Reporting to the Associate Dean of Applied Computing, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST), the incumbent provides front line administrative, organizational, clerical and secretarial support for the day-to-day and special activities within the School and plays an important role in the decision-making, planning, and organization processes. The incumbent ensures accuracy of program and student information and provides an important link with agencies, organizations and individuals, both internal and external to Sheridan. The incumbent helps organize and co-ordinate School projects and special events.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
The successful candidate should possess a 2-year College diploma in Business or Office Administration, or related/relevant field, along with practical work experience. A minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in an office environment is preferred. Experience working in an academic environment will be considered an asset. Familiarity and knowledge of the disciplines associated with the assigned cluster of programs is necessary. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment, to problem solve, organize and prioritize duties, make decisions, work independently and deal with conflicting deadlines. The ability to research, collect and synthesize data is also required as are strong organizational, communication and human relation skills. Computer proficiency in a Windows environment, with an expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. Familiarity with College systems, including PeopleSoft, will be considered an asset.
