The incumbent is responsible for functional development, integration, maintenance and optimization of Sheridan’s primary web properties including the corporate website, microsites, landing pages, forms, databases, web applications and content management systems. The incumbent leverages their expertise and knowledge of web application development to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of Sheridan College through digital marketing initiatives.

 

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Developing, maintaining and optimizing the performance of Sheridan’s primary web properties including the corporate websites, microsites, landing pages, forms, databases, web applications and content management systems;
  • Developing web applications that exchange data with the Sheridan databases, using the department specified server-side scripting languages, Structured Query Language (SQL) and industry standard database management software, while adhering to database management best practices and procedures.
  • Completing necessary updates and ensuring effective functional front-end development of Sheridan’s websites, microsites and web applications including maintenance of code repositories, versioning, testing/debugging, and documentation while adhering to Sheridan’s strategic vision and policies and industry best practices;
  • Collaborating with department staff and Information Technology System to update web packages and/or test new or enhanced features introduced to Sheridan’s web application environment;
  • Working closely with department staff to implement and maintain features that interact with various internal and external systems such as PeopleSoft, Google Analytics and Sheridan’s Email Service Provider (Bronto/Emma);
  • Responding to web support requests in a timely manner to ensure service levels are maintained;
  • Collaborating with Information Technology staff and taking part in web system and application developments to advance digital opportunities of Sheridan College in alignment with Sheridan’s strategic vision and policies and industry best practices;
  • Actively participating at IT/Marketing meetings pertaining to Web system developments, as required;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

The successful candidate will have a 3 year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Development, Web Programming/Development, Information Technology or related field, along with 3 years of Web Development experience working with ASP.NET/JavaScript/HTML/AJAX/CSS and SQL (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). In addition, 1 year of experience with Content Management Systems development, customization and integration is also required. Sitecore Certified Professional Developer or Microsoft .Net Certification (MCPD – Microsoft Certified Professional Developer) will be considered an asset.  The incumbent must demonstrate an ability to work in a team environment, the ability to problem solve, organize and prioritize duties, make decisions, work independently and deal with conflicting deadlines. A strong ability to research, troubleshoot and analyze data is also required along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
