The incumbent reports to the Associate Dean, Program Development and Quality Assurance. The incumbent uses research expertise to inform Sheridan’s management and project teams in support of decision making regarding new program development and program review.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Using research expertise to support program development and review teams by gathering and analyzing data related to the economic viability of proposed and existing programs
  • Participating as a member of program development and program review teams to provide research relating to program viability
  • Designing a comprehensive research plan that includes appropriate methodologies for gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary data
  • Gathering primary and secondary data from a range of industry representatives and sources, through document analysis, and conducting telephone interviews
  • Providing concise analyses of the data and presenting conclusions to stakeholders
  • Contributing to the establishment of a standard process for measuring the economic viability of a program
  • Compiling a resource base to include key sources of primary and secondary data as well as industry contacts for existing and future program development needs
  • Working collaboratively on large research projects with the Research Analyst
  • Collaborating in design of research, selection of appropriate tools, gathering of relevant information and analysis
  • Collaborating with Institutional Research on select projects
  • Troubleshooting challenges
  • Communicating results verbally and in writing
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

 

The successful candidate will possess a post-graduate degree (e.g. Master’s degree or equivalent) in Social Science, Research, or a related field with a minimum of three years’ experience in the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary data (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). The incumbent will have the ability to synthesize data and create written reports regarding findings. The candidate must possess superior organizational skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Advanced Excel skills would be considered an asset, along with experience using Adobe.  A strong ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities and timelines is also required.  The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with faculty and staff and be a strong team player.
